News

There's not really any way to dress it up; sitting on your arse all day is really quite boring. So here's to the one bit of good news this week. I checked my electronic immigration log-in yesterday just out of routine and lo, an update (see left)! I never received an email notifying me of this, but others in the same situation apparently had the same thing happen.

I have been selected for faster processing, meaning that I should now hear from Los Angeles in a month to six weeks. Provided I meet their selection criteria (I do, I just worry sometimes about their own interpretation of their own rules), I would then have a medical request. Suddenly, the end of all this is becoming visible on the horizon.

Bloody Sport

So that post two or three entries down about how excited I was to be playing football again? Well, there'll be no more football this summer, as you can see on the right.
I have broken my ankle (I will spare you all the gory details, those who were there at the time know what it looked like before I got to hospital). Safe to say, there is now no more work, no more sport, and the plan of waiting for permanent residence by swimming/running and so on has also been scuppered.

Six weeks of sitting on the sofa in the position shown. Sigh

PR News

Time flies when you're having fun, or so they say. Quite how much fun my project is at present - and life in a lab in general - is open to debate, but it has slowly crept up to nearly two months since I had my last bit of immigration-related news.

A check of the tracking website today offers a bit more good cheer; there seems to be another round of transferring cases from Buffalo to local consulates. They are now at applications somewhere up to three weeks before my application landed. A general trend seems to be that transfer occurs three months after the first acknowledgement letter, so if my case was selected to be transferred (I am hoping an August-exipiring work permit prompts them into doing this) a month from now, I could conceivably be done by late summer/early autumn. Everything crossed!
